  • PLACE FOR EXIT: Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves
  • PLACE OF ARRIVE: Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves
  • DISTANCE: 11 km.
  • DIFFICULTY: Extreme. Caution, the route is very dangerous at one point where the narrow path (not more than 50cm wide) crosses a sheer rock face, with a drop of more than twenty metres on one side. It is a very easy passage but also very dangerous, absolutely not recommended for people with vertigo. Nor is it advisable to take children. Wet, rainy days are best avoided, due to the increased danger of this section and possible rock falls caused by the rain.

  • GETTING TO THE TRAIL: The route is circular and returns to the departure point.
  • BASIC RECOMMENDATIONS: Habitual precautions common to hiking in general are listed below. At the risk of sounding obvious, here are some of the most important:

    • Check weather forecasts before setting off to hike.
    • Don´t go alone.
    • Tell someone your intended destination and expected time of arrival.
    • Carry a small rucksack with warm clothing, waterproofs, food and plenty of water.
    • Don´t forget such simple items as: sun hat, protective cream and sun glasses.
    • Carry a mobile phone with fully-charged battery, a map and, if possible, a compass. They will probably never be used but, when required, are of vital importance.
    • Wear suitable gear, especially footwear: trekking boots or similar are essential, trainers or pumps are to be avoided, habitual precautions common to hiking in general are listed below.
  • REMARKS: Walk very slowly along the canal, paying constant attention to correct foot placement. Do not run or speed up the pace. The dangerous section is so narrow that the placing of a protective handrail is unfeasable, due to lack of space. Carry a torch for the tunnels, although not strictly necessary. Abundant water is available along the way.
