  • DISTANCE: 9,4 km.
  • DIFFICULTY: Low. The path has no serious difficulties. In mist, two points can cause problems: the start of the route, in the vicinity of Refugio de El Pilar, and the Llanos del Jable zone. If the path is lost, walk back to where it can be picked up again and then watch closely for the painted marks.
  • ACCUMULATED ASCENDING LEVEL: 0 mt.
  • ACCUMULATED DESCENDING LEVEL: 750 mt.
  • ESTIMATED TIME OF GOING:  2:45 hrs.
  • ESTIMATED TIME COMING BACK: 3:15 hrs.
  • NATURE RESERVES WITHIN THE TRAIL: Parque Natural de Cumbre Vieja.
  • RECOMMENDED TIME OF THE YEAR: All year round.
  • GETTING TO THE TRAIL: By private vehicle or taxi.
  • BASIC RECOMMENDATIONS: Habitual precautions common to hiking in general are listed below. At the risk of sounding obvious, here are some of the most important:

    • Check weather forecasts before setting off to hike.
    • Don´t go alone.
    • Tell someone your intended destination and expected time of arrival.
    • Carry a small rucksack with warm clothing, waterproofs, food and plenty of water. 
    • Don´t forget such simple items as: sun hat, protective cream and sun glasses.
    • Carry a mobile phone with fully-charged battery, a map and, if possible, a compass. They will probably never be used but, when required, are of vital importance.
    • Wear suitable gear, especially footwear: trekking boots or similar are essential, trainers or pumps are to be avoided, habitual precautions common to hiking in general are listed below.
  • REMARKS: The easiest way to walk this path is as described here, downhill to El Paso. However, it acquires an added dimension when done in the opposite direction, by providing access from the town to a large number of other paths.
