  • Comment arriver au départ?: By road; public transport is non-existent.
  • Recommandations: Habitual precautions common to hiking in general are listed below. At the risk of sounding obvious, here are some of the most important:
    • Check weather forecasts before setting off to hike.
    • Don´t go alone
    • Tell someone your intended destination and expected time of arrival
    • Carry a small rucksack with warm clothing, waterproofs, food and plenty of water.
    • Don´t forget such simple items as: sun hat, protective cream and sun glasses.
    • Carry a mobile phone with fully-charged battery, a map and, if possible, a compass. They will probably never be used but, when required, are of vital importance.
    • Wear suitable gear, especially footwear: trekking boots or similar are essential, trainers or pumps are to be avoided.
  • Autres remarques: This route lends itself to different combinations. The most common one of all is to reach Casa del Monte (14km-long dirt track) by hiring the services of a 4WD taxi and then descend to the Visitor Centre. Another much frequented hike departs from the Visitor Centre and reaches the springs, returning the same way or coming out at Casa del Monte. Finally, there are those who walk the entire path, either departing from Los Sauces, or from the Visitor Centre. A previous check on height differences and times involved will enable the most convenient choice to be made. Carry a torch (extremely useful) and something waterproof for traversing the tunnels.
