In mist, two points can cause problems: the start of the route, in the vicinity of Refugio de El Pilar, and the Llanos del Jable zone. At the risk of sounding obvious, here are some of the most important:<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Check weather forecasts before setting off to hike.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Don\u00b4t go alone.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tell someone your intended destination and expected time of arrival.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Carry a small rucksack with warm clothing, waterproofs, food and plenty of water.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Don\u00b4t forget such simple items as: sun hat, protective cream and sun glasses.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Carry a mobile phone with fully-charged battery, a map and, if possible, a compass. They will probably never be used but, when required, are of vital importance.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wear suitable gear, especially footwear: trekking boots or similar are essential, trainers or pumps are to be avoided, habitual precautions common to hiking in general are listed below.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>REMARKS:\u00a0<\/strong>The easiest way to walk this path is as described here, downhill to El Paso.
